Talk Time
This week, your homework is to prepare some food at home with the help of an adult. After making it, taste it and think about how you could change or improve it next time.
You can choose something simple like:
- a sandwich
- a fruit salad
- toast with toppings
- a smoothie
- a salad
- some cookies or no-bake treats
Year 1-2:
- Draw a picture of the food you made.
- Write the name of your food.
- Write a sentence to say what you liked.
- Write a sentence to say what you might change next time.
Example:
I made a banana sandwich. I liked the bread. Next time, I will add honey.
Year 3-4:
- Write a short list of what you used (ingredients).
- Write a few sentences to explain how you made it.
- Say what you liked and what you might change next time.
Example:
I used bread, bananas and honey. I put the bananas on the bread and drizzled honey. I liked how sweet it was but next time I might add peanut butter.
Year 5-6:
- Write a clear recipe with ingredients and steps.
- Explain what went well and what could be improved.
- Suggest at least one creative change or twist to try next time.
Example:
Ingredients: 2 slices of wholemeal bread, 1 banana, 1 tsp honey
Steps: Slice banana, layer on bread, drizzle honey, close sandwich.
It was tasty and easy to make. Next time, I might toast the bread for crunch or add cinnamon for extra flavour.
