Y1:

think     bank     sunk     honk     wink     witch     fetch     catch     hutch     stitch

These words all contain the ‘nk’ digraph that we’ve been working on in our phonics lessons. Ask your child if they can spot the pattern that the digraph typically comes at the end of words.

Y2:

who     what     where     when     why     whole     wild     would     should     could

These words are from the common exception word list.  Many of them begin with the ‘wh’ digraph. The first five are words that are often used as question openers. Could, would, and should all contain the ‘ould’ ending. We say ‘O U Lucky Duck’ to help us remember this pattern.
