What a day!
Year 5 have had a fantastic day visiting Wetherby High School to experience what it’s like to be a high school student.
We were lucky enough to take part in such a range of different lessons and be taught by a huge range of teaching staff.
The children started the day in an English lesson learning about different styles of writing and using our imagination to create some surrealist writing. The children had some great ideas!
We then moved onto science in which the children had to try and identity a suspect of a crime by testing different samples. They stayed safe in the laboratory by wearing goggles and using pipettes to transfer liquids from test tubes to a sample tray.
The digital art lesson allowed the children to use the computers to create their own digital art. This was based upon the abstract art movements. We designed some great pictures using celebrities and modern images.
History took us back in time to explore the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. The children explored different artist representations of her and what this told us about her.
Lunchtime provided us with delicious food and a time to talk about our favourite lessons so far.
In the afternoon, we turned into chefs! The children had the opportunity to make some pizza rolls by making a dough and adding cheese, dried herbs and tomato purée. They looked delicious.
