Superhero Headquarters

Friday 28 January 2022

Our construction area has been turned into Superhero Headquarters. It is complete with masks and capes to hide identities. The area has inspired different creations of vehicles, role play, phone conversations (because you should call for help) and of course writing. There has been such a buzz about this area that we are having to take turns to play there.

The week has been based on the popular book ‘Supertato.’

The children have been taking turns to build a hideout for Supertato and they have even been making their own Supertato too.

We have had other vegetables in the classroom to help us with our Maths. We used different coloured onions to explore which numbers 5 is ‘made of.’

We apologise for the lack of photos this week, there have been a few technical difficulties.

Can you help us?
In our upcoming learning, we would like to find out more about ‘people who help us’ or key workers. We think that all of our Reception parents and carers are superheroes but on this occasion, we’d like to know if any of you have jobs that involve helping others. Police, paramedics, doctors, nurses, shop workers, postal service, fire service, refuse collection, delivery services, educators and cleaners are just a few examples. We’d love it if you could be involved and chat to Reception via Zoom! We’d need you to give us a short description of what might happen in your working day and then we’ll have a question section where the children could ask questions to find out more.
Please let us know if you can help us and are available during school hours, week beginning 7 February.

Could you be creative with your vegetables at home? Use them with paint to print a picture; arrange them and make number stories with them; or help an adult to peel them and eat them for your dinner.
