The staff are ready, the pupils might look ready and I’m sure that the parents are more than ready to have their children return to school.
We hope you’ve had a relaxing and fun break. Here are a few important pieces of information:
PE days:
56A Monday
56B Tuesday
56C Wednesday
All year 5 and 6 Thursday
Please read the uniform policy carefully. Children should come to school wearing their PE kit on their PE days.
Topic this half term:
Our topics this half term is a history unit called Stone Age to Iron Age and Ancient Egyptians.
Our science topic is called Living Things and their Habitats.
Arithmetic checks:
Most weeks, children will complete an arithmetic check. In order to show improvement for the following week, we’d like children to focus on 2-3 questions that they answered incorrectly. This is especially important over the next few months to help children recall what they were taught last year.
Reading records:
Children in 5/6 are expected to read on a daily basis. They have a reading record to record their responses to each text and a space for parents to sign and add a comment. It is still vital that children read aloud at home. Please continue to make this part of your daily routine.
Help at home: discuss the need for rules in our society. How are rules made and who makes them? What do you already know about animal habitats from previous years? Why do you think it is called a stone age or iron age?
