1A

We’ve had another fantastic week in 1A!

Well done to our first ever handwriting trophy winner, who produced some beautiful, neat and accurately formed handwriting this week.

In Maths we have been focussing on numbers 11-19. We know these numbers are made up of ‘ten and a bit more’. Some numbers are trickier than others. Eleven, twelve, thirteen and fifteen don’t follow the same spelling rule as fourteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen and nineteen. I wonder if you can spot why that might be tricky.

Our Science learning has been very enjoyable this week. We have been identifying and classifying common garden and wildflowers. We spotted lots of wild flowers on our grass areas and are hoping to plant lots more garden flowers very soon.

In reading and writing learning, we are taking a trip through Africa. This is closely linked with our Geography explorers topic. Soon we will be writing some very special reports about Africa – watch this space!

A huge well done to all children for their continuous hard work, particularly during phonics learning. It is not long now until our phonics screen so lets keep up the good work!

Help at home by continuing to read eBooks set online and practising our decoding mantra.

‘Spot the digraph, say the sound, read the word.’
