Clubs
After-school clubs are provided by a combination of staff and external companies. A small fee is charged for some clubs. However, pupils who are entitled to free school meals (and therefore where school receives pupil premium) can sometimes attend clubs free. Clubs for sports and other physical activity also have a nominal fee. Contact the office staff for details on what clubs are available – it’s best to find out towards the end of each term so you know the full menu of options. The after-school clubs ‘menu’ changes each term. Provided there’s enough take-up, the clubs will run. Here’s a selection of clubs we’ve offered:
- multi-sports
- dodgeball
- football (boys and girls)
- wake-up, shake-up (WUSU)
- skipping
- art
- netball
- athletics
- craft club
- Spanish
As well as clubs after-school, look out for other occasional clubs. Some after-school clubs are available on an ‘invitation’ basis, offering extra learning support; this is funded by pupil premium money.
Learning an instrument
Does your child want to learn guitar, keyboards or drums? We offer individual tuition led by an external company specialising in musical tuition – we currently use Roundhay Music. This will involve your child leaving their regular class for a while to take one or two sessions with a separate tutor.
Because instrument tuition is an extra service, there is a charge (unless your child is entitled to free school meals and where school receives pupil premium). Again, contact the office staff for more details on what tuition is currently on offer and the cost of this.
Does your child attend an after-school club elsewhere?
