Scholes (Elmet) Primary is a ‘one and a half form entry’ school. This means we take up to 45 pupils each year. Classes are limited to a maximum of 30 children in Reception, Year 1 and 2 (like all schools), and classes in Years 3 to 6 are usually around this size, too.

This week in Maths, the Y1 children have been composing numbers from 11-19. We have been using Numicon, Rek n reks and 10 frames to form each numbers. We know these numbers are made up of ’10 and a bit’.
We also drew part-whole models and wrote some addition equations.
Help at home by discussing numbers. Ask children what each digit represents. For example, in the number 13, the 1 represents the one ten and the 3 represents 3 ones.
