Times tables practise the 9 times table (up to 9 x 12), including division facts. Don’t forget to check the website for more practise sheets. Record how long it takes you to complete a set. See if you can beat your personal best time.

Practise counting forwards, backwards, starting from zero and then starting from a multiple, and don’t forget the traditional way to support your child – a couple of mock tests to see how well your child knows their tables!

This week’s homework is a whole school Talk Time homework.

I make healthy choices.

As a reflection of last week’s Health Week, please talk with your family or friends about healthy choices. Here are some ideas:

  • food choices – do you eat a healthy balanced diet?
  • exercise – do you get enough?
  • sleep – do you know how much sleep you should have and do you regularly get enough?
  • mental health – can you use mindfulness strategies to deal with difficult emotions or situations?
  • personal safety – can you keep yourself safe in different situations (in the sun, near water, playing out) and do you know where to go for help or advice?

This week’s homework is Talk Time

I can talk about who is in my family.

Who is in your family from babies to grandparents. Who is the oldest in your family? Who is the youngest?

Discuss different stages of the human life cycle. Consider how people at different stages differ in terms of their personalities and responsibilities.

You could talk about your child’s aspirations for when they become adults.

This week’s homework is Practice Makes Perfect. A handwriting activity will be stuck in your child’s homework book. You can help at home any time with this by ensuring letters are sized and placed correctly on the line. Check out the Help Your Child section of our website and look for the handwriting guide.

This week’s homework is Practice Makes Perfect and is due in on Thursday 21st June.

I can record and tell the time to the nearest minute

Your child has been given a sheet to complete. Complete the clocks to show 4 activities you do in the week. What time do you start the activity? What time do you finish? How long does it take you to complete the activity? See the example below.

I started eating my breakfast at 8am and finished at 8.12am. It took me 12 minutes to eat my breakfast.

This week’s homework is Practice Makes Perfect.

Learn the words to this song by heart (you don’t have to sing it).

Never Smile at a Crocodile
by Frank Churchill

Never smile at a crocodile

No, you can’t get friendly with a crocodile

Don’t be taken in by his welcome grin

He’s imagining how well you’d fit within his skin

Never smile at a crocodile

Never tip your hat and stop to talk awhile

Never run, walk away, say good-night, not good-day

Clear the aisle but never smile at Mister Crocodile

You may very well be well bred

Lots of etiquette in your head

But there’s always some special case, time or place

To forget etiquette

For instance

Never smile at a crocodile

No, you can’t get friendly with a crocodile

Don’t be taken in by his welcome grin

He’s imagining how well you’d fit within his skin

Never smile at a crocodile

Never dip your hat and stop to talk awhile

Never run, walk away, say good-night, not good-day

Clear the aisle but never smile at Mister Crocodile!
