Topic – computing

Our topic this half term is all about computing.

We’ve starting with ‘offline computing’ – learning all about algorithms.

We are going to be playing, and making, lots of online and offline games. As this is a computing topic, we’ll be using a range of technology including Blue-Bots and iPads.

Here is a lost of some of the vocabulary that will be taught in the coming weeks.

Living and Learning (Staying Safe Week) : staying safe around dogs

We had a visit from Dogs Trust today to tell us all about how to stay safe around dogs. We learnt 5 ‘happy dog’ rules. Can your child remember them?
  1. If a dog is resting, leave it alone.
  2. If a dog is eating, leave it alone.
  3. Stay quiet around dogs.
  4. Dogs don’t like hugs, they prefer gentle strokes.
  5. If a dog takes a toy, swap it, don’t take it.

Living and Learning (Staying Safe Week) : fire safety

Well, what an exciting day. A fire engine and crew from Killingbeck Fire Station drove onto our playground! They talked to us about fire safety and how they use the equipment on the engine to keep people safe.
It is important that children know how to call 999 and that they know their full name, address and postcode. Help your child by making sure they know their address.
