PE days – when to wear PE kit?
We are continuing to wearing PE kit on PE days. On the days your child has PE, they should come to school in their school uniform PE kit. (Track-suit bottoms instead of shorts would be good on colder days. Footwear : black/brown/grey/white flat shoes which are safe to run around in.)
Footwear on PE days could be children’s ‘school shoes’ which are often a plain ‘trainer’ style anyway, if you want to avoid having to buy 2 pairs of shoes.
Here is a link to our uniform policy.
- 1A (Miss Lowry) – Thursday (swimming) and Friday
- 1,2B (Mrs Latham) – Thursday and Friday (swimming)
- 2C (Miss Young) – Tuesday (swimming) and Friday
Swimming lessons will not take place in the first week. Children will need their swimming kit from week beginning 12 September.
Welcome Back!
Hello and welcome back!
Where has the summer gone? Whatever you’ve been up to, we hope you’ve had a brilliant time!
On Tuesday, we return to school. Here’s some key information that you may need.
What should my child wear to school?
You can look on our school website for our school uniform and PE kit policy. We typically have spare, clean items of uniform, including PE kit, for children to change into if they’re not wearing the items set out in this policy.
Your child should wear PE kit on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
What does my child need to bring into school?
Children should bring a bag to school everyday. In the first week, they will have the opportunity to take a library book home and a book chosen by their class teacher.
Children should also have a filled water bottle (only water please) and perhaps a sun hat and sun cream if it’s a sunny day.
School will provide all the stationery. Children should not bring their own equipment. They will be asked to keep it at home. I hope you’ll understand that this will help to reduce any issues that this might cause in school.
Who are the key adults in Y3,4?
3,4A – Mrs Patterson & Mr Goodwin
3,4B – Mr Catherall, Mrs Wilkins & Mrs Thorn
3,4C – Mrs Wadsworth, Mrs McCormick & Mrs Kirby
We’re all looking forward to another successful year! In the meantime, if you have any questions, please get in touch.

Welcome back
Only a few days before we’re back together! We hope you have all had a great summer.
Have a look here at our school uniform and PE kit policy. We will have spare, clean items of uniform, including PE kit, for children to change into if they’re not wearing the items set out in this policy. It helps us feel part of our school community if everyone follows the same rules.

Welcome back!
I know most parents are probably asking themselves, “Do they have to go back to school so soon?” All good things must come to an end.
The Year 5/6 team are really excited to be welcoming you back to Scholes this year. We’ve got lots of fun activities planned such as bikeability, a new residential and some other trips which you’ll find out about during the year.
This week you might be frantically looking around for school uniform, lunch boxes, water bottles and PE kit.

In year 5/6, parents can choose to allow their child to walk home without an adult.
Let’s make this a year to remember.

Here are some posters showing you the adults in each class in Key Stage 1 (years 1 and 2).
Have a great holiday!
We say it every year, but where did this year go? Time flies! We had a great final week in Nursery, eating ice-creams, dancing in the bubbles and paddling our feet to help keep us cool!
We’d like to say thank you to everyone for your kind words, cards and end of year gifts. It’s been lovely to watch your children learn and grow this year and we know that they’ll have a great time in Reception.
Have a fantastic summer holiday.
Nursery team
School’s out for summer!
Thank you, children, for all your hard work, and thank you parents and carers, for all your support. Have a lovely summer and maybe have a go at this bingo game!
Our last week…
Our last week…
We’ve had a lovely final week in Reception. We’ve continued revising our skills through phonics, maths and literacy carpet sessions. We’ve been writing about our favourite memories throughout our time in Reception and thinking about ‘spreading our wings’ into year one.
The children managed fantastically well during the heatwave. We spent half an hour outside in the morning on Monday and Tuesday, keeping to shaded areas and keeping cool by paddling. Some of the children picked the peas that had grown in our garden. Regular water breaks, blinds down, cooling wet paper towels or spray bottles and less active activities, ensured we kept happy and healthy. Thank you again to parents and carers, for your cooperation in sending your children to school in cooler clothing and collecting earlier on Tuesday.
The children were happy to get back to full playtimes and outdoor explorations, as the weather cooled down.
The Selfie Station…
The children have throughly enjoyed being in charge of photography this week! They’ve captured moments at the selfie station and around the classroom. Take a look at their snaps in the video below!
The beach party…
We had some brilliant beach- themed fun on Thursday! What a way to celebrate the end of the year!
A special performance…
As part of our topic this half term, Where in the world, we’ve been learning about coastal environments and the sea. Over the past few weeks, Mrs Myers has been working her magic, teaching the children a special song. The children also collaborated in their artwork to create sea animals and seaweed as props to perform the song. We are proud to present to you Octopus’s Garden by The Beatles:

A final message…
On behalf of the whole Reception team, I would like to finish by saying how proud we are of all the children in Reception. We’ve had such an amazing year together. It is always difficult to say goodbye to our classes, who we cherish so dearly, but we’re equally excited for them to start their year one adventures. They are so ready to wow their new teachers!
And to you, our wonderful parents and carers. Thank you for your partnership this year; through general support, home-link challenges, emails, photos, doorway chats and kind words.
Enjoy a relaxing, fun-filled Summer holiday together. We’ll see you again on Tuesday 6 September!
Beach Party
What a day! We’ve had a fantastic fun-filled day at our beach themed party. There were games, inflatables, dancing, bubbles, chalking and a water fight. There was not much sun, but we didn’t care, we had so much fun!
What a Week!
What a week it was for Year 5/6 last week. Filled with happy, hard-working pupils and very proud parents and teachers, the week was a huge success for all.
The 5/6 production finally came round and the performances were nothing short of excellent. Thanks to all the parents and adults for coming to watch, support the children and for buying our leaflets to raise money for the school – it is very much appreciated by all involved. The hard work of the children was rewarded with a standing ovation from all the adults and teachers on the final night of the show!
To end the week, the Key stage two disco took place on Friday night. All pupils behaved fantastically well and were great role models for our school. There were some fantastic dance moves on show (I think the sugar rush from the tuck shop helped!).
All in all, a brilliant penultimate week – well done to everyone involved!
