1KN Egg Rolling
Thank you for sending decorated, boiled eggs in to school. 1KN enjoyed sending their eggs down the ramp to see whose egg could roll the furthest. Well done to our three winners: Stanley, Indie and Jack.
Science -flowers
Today, our Science learning involved exploring the part that flowers play in pollination, seed formation and seed dispersal.
We watched a wonderful video by artist Katy Scott of how flowers make new flowers. There were no words which made it all the more special.
The main points were:
- The bees visit the flowers to gather nectar and pollen which they need for food. Some of the pollen gets moved from flower to flower.
- Once the pollen has moved down the stigma into the ovary, the flower has been pollinated. Seed formation begins in the ovary.
We made the different parts from paper and put the structure together in groups.
Here are some pictures from the session.
Easter eggcitement!
We had an eggcelent week learning about Easter time and taking part in lots of traditional Easter themed activities including tasting Hot Cross Buns, making Easter cards, decorating and rolling eggs and joining in with an Easter Egg hunt.
We’ve put together a video to show you some of the highlights from this week. Foundation 1 Easter Fun
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Parent Teacher Consultations this week; it was great to speak to you and discuss your child’s progress. If you didn’t get chance to make an appointment, or if we need to rearrange it, please speak to us when we return to Nursery.
Have a fantastic Easter break! Don’t forget to e-mail us some photographs of your holiday adventures or of your Easter celebrations. We’ll be talking about our holidays in group time during the first week and it’s always lovely to have some photos to share. scholesf1@spherefederation.org
Easter Eggtravaganza
This week has been filled with Easter themed fun and activities.
We have enjoyed: creating our own Easter egg patterns in the playdough; decorating Easter trees; buttering and tasting hot cross buns and an egg rolling competition.
We have also loved our new playground equipment!
A special letter arrived from Professor Myers. She needed our help to find ways to stop Humpty Dumpty cracking as he fell off the wall.
We could use plasters and bandages. Adam
Put a blanket down. Isla
When he falls he can slide down a slide. Dexter
We can get lots of jumpers for Humpty to land on. Zak
We ended our week by giving out four golden stars.

We had a fabulous day dressing as real life heroes. Our history topic this half term has focused on ‘Historic Heroes’ – Nelson Mandela and Leonora Cohen – and how their actions changed things. Can your child tell you what they did?
I came as a nurse because they help to make people better.
I came as a Covid vaccine developer because they have helped to keep us safe.
I came as a firefighter because they help to keep us safe.
I came as a soldier because they protect us.
Egg-cellent egg rolling competition
We had a great time rolling our eggs today. The winners were Ben, Freddie and Kai! Well done to their egg-cellent speedy eggs.
Self-care bingo
It’s the little things we need to focus on at the moment to take care of ourselves during this difficult time. Here is a bingo game that might be fun to do over the holidays!
Junior Leadership Team Speeches
A huge well done to all the children from 5/6 S for completing your homework and creating your own speeches for the JLT elections. You had put a lot of effort in and you thought of creative ways to convince us to vote for you. I would be very proud to have any of you on the JLT.
Voting takes place on Friday 1st April, so watch this space to see who our new JLT members are!
