Home Learning Pictures
Last week, we posted a video to show how proud we are of everyone. Here is the video again incase you missed it 🙂
We are always so pleased to see so many emails and pictures of the children enjoying the home learning tasks as well as enjoying family time and learning new skills.
This week, we set a task to write some instructions. Did you manage to write any instructions? We have had a few emails sent to us. We have some instructions on how to make flapjacks, how to move chrysalis to their butterfly house and some instructions on how to make glass.
Here are a few more pictures and a video from this week.
Fabulous Home Learning
This week has been lovely to welcome a few more members of 5/6 S back into school, however I’m really missing us all being a class together. Thank you to those people who have continued to send me emails and photographs of your home learning. It really helps me feel like I’m still your teacher!
There has been some great art work going on this week in celebration of Pride week. I love the bright, vivid colours on the posters. Imogen has sent in her recount from the writing lesson this week and Lucas has enjoyed completing his fractions learning. I hope you are all continuing to persevere with your home learning. I imagine that sometimes it’s difficult to get motivated, however just remember that your learning is important and that you are all fab at it. Remember to get some exercise too in between the torrential rain showers – or you could dance in the rain! Stay happy and healthy everyone. I miss you!
Monstrous art work
The Colour Monster story has been very popular this week. We have thought about our emotions and discussed how many emotions we have been feeling over the last few months. It is a difficult time, so doubly important to talk about your feelings and try to find things to do that make you happy.

Story Time
It’s Friday again! We’re always looking for minibeasts at Nursery and we’re sure that you’ll have found a lot in your gardens over the last few weeks. Next week’s learning activities are going to be all about creepy crawlies, so we thought that we’d end this week with a story about a spider.
Today’s story is called ‘The Very Busy Spider’ and it’s written by Eric Carle, the same author as The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We’re sure you’ll recognise the illustrations and become familiar with the pattern of the story. As you’ll soon find out, Mrs Long really needed some of you to help her make the animal noises! Maybe you could join in at home as you listen; we’re sure you’ll be better at making a goat noise than Mrs Long is!
Here are a some activities to try at home.
- Have you ever seen a spider in your house? Where was it? Look for a spider or a spider’s web outside. Where do they live?
- Draw or paint some spiders using a circle for the body and add lines for the legs. Count each line as you draw – how many legs do you need?
- Everyone enjoys singing ‘Incy Wincy Spider‘. See if your child can sing it to you with some actions.
- If you fancy a challenge, why not have a go at making a giant spider’s web? You could use some wool/string and wrap it around the legs of some chairs/furniture or plants outside. Once you have a web, try and carefully climb through it.
- To find out a bit more about spiders, watch this short clip with Andy from CBeebies. If you enjoy this, you might like to watch an old episode of ‘Come Outside‘ which is all about spiders.
Learning at home
You’ve all been super busy again this week. Lots of you enjoyed going for long walks in search of butterflies. We loved your caterpillar and butterfly prints and seeing some of your yoga poses. We were also pleased to read that lots of you have been practising some maths skills by using dice and dominoes. Can you recognise the dot patterns yet and say which number you have?
Some of you have celebrated your birthday too. Happy Birthday!

Phonics
Your child will need a pencil and paper or whiteboard and pen for this lesson.
Maths
1.Watch the Numberblock ‘unlucky’ 13 video.
2.Collect some objects (stones, sticks, leaves ect) from outside.
3.Can you count how many objects you have collected?
Today we are going to have a go at estimating. Estimating is when we roughly count the number of objects we can see.
4.Parents/carers can you put some of the objects out in front of your child (you may want to use a towel to cover them up until you are ready to reveal the objects). Give your child a few seconds to look at the objects and ask them to estimate how many they can see.
5.Take turns and continue to do this a few times changing the amount of objects each time.
6.Ask questions e.g. is it more or less than last time? How do you know?
Literacy
Today, we are going to draw a picture and write a list of what you need to do your activity.
Use the template or create your own.
Remember to think, say, count, write and check your writing.

Living and Learning – We’re all the same and all different
Our Living and Learning learning this week links with the British value of mutual respect and tolerance. We aim to promote empathy and understanding in our school, making it a happy and healthy place to learn. We celebrate diversity and challenge prejudice. We have talked about this with the children who are in school and hopefully you have had discussions after watching the ‘We’re different, we’re the same’ video, which was part of the home-learning this week.
Here are some things that children said in school this week.
People should be treated equally.
It’s not fair when people are treated differently.
We should stand up for what’s right like Rosa Parks did.
We are kind to everyone!
It is good to be different and like different things.
