Class News

Hello 1K

Posted on Friday 27 March 2020 by Reception Team

Hi everyone

It has been lovely to see all the photos of your fabulous home learning. I can see you have been working hard and enjoying the lovely weather.

I have been in school this week and have definitely missed all of your smiling faces. The classroom isn’t the same without you all (athough it is very tidy).

Now that the weather is getting nicer and it is beginning to warm up, my garden is waking up too, with flowers opening, birds singing and insects all around. Have you seen this in your own gardens or when you have been out walking? I have seen bumblebees, butterflies, baby rabbits and a red kite this week. Keep your eyes out for new wildlife and let me know what you see.

I can’t wait to see and hear more of what you have been up to and learning about.
Miss Parling .

Chicks and home learning pictures

Posted on Friday 27 March 2020 by Reception team

Mrs Latham is kindly looking after our chicks. She has some ‘eggciting’ news to share. There are now 6 chicks. With the help of her family they have come up with some great names.

This chick is called Rapid…can you guess why?

We have also had lots of lovely emails, sharing all the wonderful learning that you have been doing at home. It’s great to see that as well as the daily home learning tasks, lots of you have been busy coming up with your own ideas too. For example, becoming scientists and doing the pepper and soap experiment, making dinosaur eggs from ice, going on bug hunts around the garden and making potions.

We love reading these emails. Please continue to send us messages and pictures with what you have been up to. We’ve shared a few pictures of your friends in F2.

We hope the sun continues to shine. Have a lovely weekend.

Lovely learning

The sunshine has helped keep everyone’s spirits up during this first week of our new routine. We hope you are all well and keep sending us pictures of your lovely learning.

27 March 2020: Hall of (home learning) Fame

Posted on Friday 27 March 2020 by Mr Catherall

Hey everyone

I hope you’re all well and keeping safe. Mr Freeman says hi, too.

It has been great to hear from so many people today. If you haven’t emailed me yet please do. It’s been lovely to catch up with people and has really brightened up my mood. If everyone got in touch, I’d be super happy.

Today marks a special day for a few people  as they officially get inducted into the Hall of (home learning) Fame. This is a huge achievement so a big well done. If you’d like to be considered for this special accolade please send your photos via email.

This person completed the maths learning and corrected some mistakes. Mrs Hogarth claims she put them there on purpose – I’m not convinced but I’ll let you decide. Congratulations, Alfie – you’ve made it in to the highly prestigious Hall of (home learning) Fame!

This person mixed creativity with PE and came up with an awesome assault course for her whole family – great work. Things like this will definitely keep you and your family happy and healthy. Congratulations, you are in the Hall of (home learning) Fame!

An excellent character description from Lucy here. I love the ENPs (explain to your adults what these are) and the varied language used. Well done, Lucy – you’re in. Welcome to the Hall of (home learning) Fame!

And here, we see a classic ‘working from home pose’ from our final entrant of the day. It’s great to see you’ve been completing the learning tasks to keep your mind happy and healthy. Well done – you’re in. Welcome to the Hall of (home learning) Fame!

Stay tuned for more entrants to our Hall of (home learning) Fame over the coming days. It would be great to have a load of pictures to post.

Send photos to your class teacher’s email address accompanied by #HoHLF. Terms and conditions apply.

Terms and conditions: you must send a picture to be entered into the Hall of (home learning) Fame. Winners will be posted on this section of  the website and will receive their prize as soon as they read it. The prize is a virtual high five from the Year 5,6 team.

P.S When I write these posts, I imagine I’m a mix of Ant & Dec and a really cheesy game show host. It might help if you read them with this in mind!

Marvellous Messages

Thank you very much to all the children who have been in touch with me today. It’s been great to hear from you and hear how you are getting on with your home learning. It has also been really nice that some of you have asked how I am. That’s a really nice quality to show, so thank you.

Here are some photos that I have received from Ava, showing me all the learning she is doing at home. She even tried the soap and pepper experiment to show the importance of washing your hands. At least we don’t have to line up at the sink and sing the Conga anymore! Take care all of you.

Hello, Hola, Bonjour, G’day mate 1,2V

Posted on Friday 27 March 2020 by Mrs Latham

Hi guys,

Hope you are all doing well. It seems ages since we’ve seen each other but it’s only been a week! I hope you are all doing ok and enjoying some of the learning tasks we have set? It has been lovely to see photos and hear about what you are doing at home. Keep the emails coming.

It has been busy at the Latham house with our 6 new chicks to look after. It has been keeping my children busy so I can get on with some work! I have been joining in with the Joe Wicks live workout and doing some dancing along to my favourite  Go Noodle dances too. Why don’t you do some at home?

Take care and hopefully see you all soon.

Love Mrs Latham

Hello 2KN

Posted on Friday 27 March 2020 by Mrs Lake

Hi 2KN,

We hope you’re all well and enjoying the sunshine.

We are really enjoying seeing and hearing about all the fabulous learning you are doing- keep it up superstars!

Have you been doing the Joe Wicks PE sessions? We have in the Lowry and Lake households and it is keeping us fit and healthy. We have been enjoying the Cosmic Kids yoga and Go Noodle too.

Have you been playing outside in the lovely sunshine? Did you spy any new birds flying around or find any new creatures in the grass?

You will have new learning tasks set everyday next week. We would love to see what you have been doing in your red home learning books. There are so many great learning websites and videos online too. This menu of home learning websites has so many to choose from. Please email us to tell us what else you have been doing whilst you’ve been at home. Maybe you have done some baking, played a board game or done some arts and crafts. Send us pictures of all the wonderful things you have been doing.

We miss you all and hope to see you soon. Have a lovely weekend and take care of yourselves. Stay safe and happy.

Miss Lowry and Mrs Lake

Thanks Amelie for getting in touch to share your brilliant writing. Can’t wait for the full story. Viking boy’s Tony Bradman has inspired you but yours is much better. Well done.

Story Time

Posted on Friday 27 March 2020 by Reception Team

Hello, Nursery! We’re really enjoying seeing all of the photographs that you have emailed us. You’ve all been really busy learning at home. Keep up the good work next week and don’t forget to e-mail us. We’re going to aim to post things on our website on Monday, Wednesday and Friday; make sure you check in with us on those days to see what Ferdie has been doing.

Today, we thought we’d share a story together. Ferdie has chosen to read ‘Hattie Peck’ by Emma Levey (published by Simon and Schuster).   Hattie loves eggs but she doesn’t have any of her own so she goes searching for eggs around the world.

  • What does Hattie Peck love?
  • What did Hattie Peck want most of all?
  • Hattie had an idea, what did she decide to do?
  • What happened on her journey?
  • Can you remember where Hattie found some of the eggs?

At the end of the story, there’s an illustration to show all of the different creatures that hatched from the eggs that Hattie found.

  • Can you name some of them?
  • Can you think of any other creatures that hatch from eggs?

Home Learning

One of the suggested home learning activities for this week, was to look at eggs and have a go at peeling the shell off a hard boiled egg. However, we know that eggs are difficult to buy at the moment, so we wouldn’t want one to go to waste! Make sure you make a sandwich afterwards and ask your child to help you butter the bread and mash the egg for inside. Yum, yum!
