Amazing Autumn
This week, the children have really enjoyed exploring the outdoor area and looking for signs of Autumn. They found a oak tree in our garden area and we’ve started to collect conkers.
See if you can find any signs of Autumn with your child at home and bring what you find in to share with us.
The children have also enjoyed re-enacting the story We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and they worked together to build a big rollercoaster.
We’ll be holding a number of Stay and Play sessions throughout the year. Each session will have a focus (number, phonics) and you can observe us teach an activity. Please have a look at all upcoming events on the calendar.
Thanks for your continued support,
The F2 team
Bikeability course for Y6
Bikeability for Y6 starts on Friday 29 September and runs until the following Friday. Please ask your child which group they are in. Each day they will need: their bike; helmet; change of warm/ waterproof clothing; snack; and water bottle in school. They should have their school uniform here too for the half day they are not in training.
Group 1 and 2 – Friday 29 September, Monday 02 October, Tuesday 03 October
Group 3 and 4 – Wednesday 04 October, Thursday 05 October, Friday 06 October
Welcome to Nursery
It was lovely to see so many happy faces last week, as our oldest children returned to nursery after the summer holidays. We’ve also welcomed our new children and their families to nursery and we’re looking forward to getting to know them all over the coming weeks.
Reminders
Remember to send your child with a coat and some wellington boots. We play outside in all weathers.
Please name all items of clothing, including coats and shoes. We have already spotted several children with matching shoes; as you can imagine, it’s very tricky to return shoes and cardigans/jumpers to their owners when they are the same size/brand. Thank you in advance for your help.
Science, Computing and Art
It’s been another busy week in all three Year 1 and 2 classes. The children have been learning about how to answer a scientific question – ‘How can we make plasticine float?’
They enjoyed trying various shapes before finding a way to make it float.
We have also had our first taster of our carousel afternoon: learning how to make music on the iPads, art and RE.
Well done to our Golden Star this week.
14 September 2017
Look at our fantastic art work!
Linked to our class book, Orion and the Dark, children in all Y3/4 classes created some super works of art. The silhouette cities are really detailed and we love the different sunset skies.
Please label your child’s clothes
We’ve already started to get a collection of unnamed clothes.
All of your child’s uniform needs to be named – this includes their shoes for when they swap into their wellies to play outside.
Top tip: if it comes off – label it 🙂
Coats and wellies
We love to go outside in all weathers. Your child needs a named waterproof coat and a named pair of wellies in school.
Letter formation guide
When teaching the children a new sound, we sing a ditty to support their letter formation. You can use the Letter Formation guide for support when writing with your child at home. This guide is also useful for supporting your child to write their name.
For example:
- t – down the tower, across the tower.
- s – slither down the snake.
- a – around the apple and down the leaf.
First day in F2
We’d like to say a big well done to the F2 children who started today. They settled in straight away and have played really well with their new friends and teachers. They’ve loved exploring the new classroom and all the exciting provision.
We enjoyed having the time to get to know the children and are looking forward to seeing them again. We’ll also be welcoming some more F2 children tomorrow.
See you tomorrow 🙂
A busy first week!
Wow! What a brilliant week we’ve had. All Year 1 and 2 classes have visited the school library to choose a book to take home. This is to be enjoyed alongside the reading scheme books. Please return next Friday (15 September) so your child can choose a different one.
1,2V were impressed by the new hall floor and worked on listening carefully to instructions and balls skills in their first PE lesson. Thank you for making sure your child was not wearing earrings (as per our updated uniform policy) as this ensured we started our PE lesson promptly.
Well done to our first golden star of the new school year.
