Lilia and Lleyton have been very busy today working on their expanded noun phrases. I think the art work is amazing – well done! If anyone else would like their work posting, just send it over and prepare yourself for fame!

The WWF (World Wildlife Fund) have a wonderful website that is full of great ideas to do at home. It has quizzes, videos and some creative ideas too. Have a look and see what you think.
Another fun activity is to type an animal name into Google and in the results list there will be ‘Meet a life-sized panda up close.’ Click on this and it will show you an amazing 3D moving image of an animal and you can even have your photo taken with it. I just had a tiger in my kitchen!
Thank you very much to all the children who have been in touch with me today. It’s been great to hear from you and hear how you are getting on with your home learning. It has also been really nice that some of you have asked how I am. That’s a really nice quality to show, so thank you.
Here are some photos that I have received from Ava, showing me all the learning she is doing at home. She even tried the soap and pepper experiment to show the importance of washing your hands. At least we don’t have to line up at the sink and sing the Conga anymore! Take care all of you.

Good morning everybody!
I hope you all had a good nights sleep and that you’re looking forward to another day of home learning.
Today I am setting you a challenge. I want as many of you as possible to email me to let me know how you are getting on. I’m missing our class chats and giggles together. In your emails though, I want you to tell me about one of the best things that you’ve done whilst at home, since we finished school. I want to know how you are getting on with your home learning and also the yummiest thing you have eaten recently. We are no longer able to have our chats about food, so we will have to do it via email instead. I accidentally ate a Cadbury’s Creme Egg last night (other eggs are available). It was yummy! Feel free to send me any pics of what you are up to- it’s nice to see your smiling faces. I’ve already seen a few photos and it has really made me smile.
Anyway, I hope to hear from you later. Have a great day and keep smiling.

Hello my lovely class! I just thought I’d send you all a little message as I know you must be missing your teacher by now. I hope you are all getting on with all the home learning we are setting you. Don’t forget that presentation is still really important in those lovely green books I gave you. I would love to see some photos of your work if you would like to send me some. Make sure you are not forgetting to get some exercise each day and eat healthily. Remember, you can always use the Jo Wicks workouts, but also Otis Mabuse does a live dance routine every morning at 11:30 am. See if an adult can find it for you. It’s good fun- I had a go at it this morning. I will show you the routines I know when we get back to school! Look after yourselves. Mrs H.x
Year 5/6 have been discussing body image. In their classes they generated a class definition of this term and identified what this means to them. They recognised that body image includes our feelings, and thoughts about their height, weight, shape, skin colour and appearance. The children looked at how image had changed over time. Each child was given a template of a bucket and we talked about how we all carry a bucket around and we fill it with the words people say to us. It is important to fill other people’s buckets with positive comments. We finally spent time writing positive comments on every persons bucket and ended the lesson reflecting on these. It was great to see so many positive comments from the children to each other.
This week year 5 and 6 were visited by a medical student from Leeds University. They took part in a ‘Brain Building Bonanza’ in which they were discovering how the brain works, how it is structured and its function within the human body. The children acted out being a neuron to show how signals are sent to the rest of the body. Ask your child what facts they can remember from the workshop. Ask them what the cerebellum does.
This half term we are using our scientific enquiry skills to investigate different materials. We will be coming up with our own questions for investigations, and then carrying out experiments to prove or disprove these. We will be recording our findings and presenting them in different ways. The children are learning about solids, liquids and gases and applying different methods to separate them. We discussed which changes are reversible.
Year 5/6S produced some amazing homework this week based on our Living and Learning statement: I can show different ways to stay safe, including online. We enjoyed looking at colourful posters, comic strips and even some quizzes. I have thoroughly enjoyed looking at all these creative ideas- keep it up!
Year 5/6 have used their computing topic as a stimulus for their current piece of writing. The have written non-chronological reports to explain all the different elements of their Scratch games. They included sections such as ‘Meet the team’ and ‘Testimonials.’ They had to structure their reports well and include varied sentences, dashes, semi-colons and commas. They were very keen to promote their games and their vocabulary choices were effective and persuasive.
