Children in Need in KS1
Thank you to everyone that brought a donation into school today. The total will be announced next week.
To celebrate Children in Need in Years 1 and 2 we kept active all day. We watched the end of Joe Wick’s 24 hour exercise challenge. The children were amazed to hear that he raised over £1,500,000 exercising for 24 hours.

We have had another busy week! Our certificates this week go to…
For great learning…
Sophia – For great work in maths. You have concentrated well and shared your ideas.
For sport and physical activity…
Edward – For determination in PE – trying to beat your skipping personal best.
For living and learning…
Tilly – For always being helpful and kind.
Our new class reward system is going down well too. For making good choices throughout the day, children can write their name on a raffle ticket (some children have got 8 tickets in this week). On a Friday, 5 winners will be drawn out and can choose a prize from the Raffle Reward box.
Handwriting – a helpful video
The Year 1s have started learning how to write letters using a lead-in line. We have practised ‘c’ and ‘o’ so far. Next week, we will be practising ‘a’. In year two, children are encouraged to join letters. A copy of the handwriting guide can be found here. Try watching this at home to support your child’s learning. (This is a YouTube link. Top tip for watching YouTube with your child: go to the settings cog along the play bar and turn off autoplay – this avoids an inappropriate clip coming up automatically, and helps to discourage your child from passively watching clip after clip.)
English – all about nouns
This week, we have be learning about how different words can have different ‘jobs’. We have talked about nouns this week. We learnt a song to help us.
NOUNS
Every person, place or thing,
Needs a name and so we sing,
Nouns means names.
We went on a noun hunt around our classrooms – there are nouns everywhere!
Art – a type of therapy as well as a lesson?
We have being doing lots of art since we returned to school in September. It has been proven to help us relax, is enjoyable, gives us time to talk to each other and helps us express ourselves. Here are some examples of some of our artwork.
Children in Need
We are going to be celebrating BBC Children in Need on Friday 13 November.
The Junior Leadership Team voted for a ‘dress as you like day.’ Children can come to school in non-uniform.
We would like to raise as much money as possible for Children in Need and are therefore asking for a voluntary donation. On the morning of the 13th, there will be some buckets placed in the playground for you to drop off your donations.
Thank you in advance for your support and co-operation.

School Council
The School Council met today to make a few plans for this term. Our first bit of exciting news is that the School Council have been re-branded as ‘The Junior Leadership Team.’
We discussed some ideas for Children in Need, which is taking place on Friday 13 November. The team decided that we would do a non-uniform day and collect donations. More information will be sent out on Monday.
The team are currently discussing what our new charity is going to be this year, so we’ll keep you posted when we’ve decided.
