Home learning in different ways
We have had some lovely pictures of children learning in different ways this week like refining problem solving skills, being aware of environmental issues, working on fine and gross motor skills and measuring. There has been word searching, litter picking, baking, bike riding, painting, mosaic making and operating a digger!

Home learning heroes
We’ve had some lovely emails from people learning at home. Thank you for keeping in touch with your teachers and keeping your brains busy.
Things are feeling tough for some people, but just do what you can and have a day off every now and again, if you need to!
Jake is really enjoying the science videos.

Super home learning
Thank you to everyone who has emailed their class teachers letting them know how they are getting on at home.
It has also been lovely to see lots of faces and hear about what you have been doing on our daily class Zoom meetings.
I have enjoyed learning about split digraphs with Mr Parker.
Email your class teacher if you need the invite re-sending.
Our email addresses are :
1KN Miss Lowry/Mrs Lake : kaylowry@spherefederation.org and natalielake@spherefederation.org
1,2V Mrs Latham vickylatham@spherefederation.org
2C Mr Gathercole carlgathercole@spherefederation.org
Here are some examples of what people have being getting up to at home. Do what you can and, most importantly, stay happy, healthy and safe.

Happy New Year 1,2V
Hope you are all doing ok. Here is a video message from me.
Let’s read – new books!
Each class chose £100 worth of new books to refresh our reading corners. They were delivered just before Christmas and the children couldn’t wait to get stuck in! We particularly bought non-fiction (information) books that can be dipped into. The Lego, animal and science-based lift up flap books were a particular hit.

1,2V Christmas party 2020
We had a fun-packed day. There was Christmas lunch, dancing (including a class conga), party games, crackers, party food and a movie. Everyone was worn out by the end of the day!

Merry Christmas from Years 1 and 2
We were not able to do our usual Christmas performance this year… but we hope you like this instead!
Goldilocks pantomime
Thank you to Friends of Scholes Primary (FOSP) for paying for us to watch a panto. We really enjoyed it and there were lots of important messages for us to take away too:
- be kind
- listen to other people
- we can all be friends
- laugh and have fun

Living and learning : emotions
We have been talking about our emotions in our living and learning lessons. It is important to recognise our own emotions and well as other people’s emotions. Even if we feel a certain way, this feeling will not last forever and that is okay.

Fiery finale to our history topic – The Great Fire of London
We have really enjoyed our history topic – The Great Fire of London.
We have learned so much and saw how London might’ve burned today. We made some houses out of tissue boxes. Two houses were close together and 2 were spaced apart (with a firebreak in between). We then set fire to them. Ask your child what happened!
