Design Technology – perfect puppets

We have absolutely loved our design technology topic this half term. Sewing has turned into a new-found favourite past time for so many children! The finale of the topic was comparing and evaluating our designs to our finished products. I’m sure you are as impressed as we were with our puppets. The children can’t wait to bring them home to play with and show their families.

We had a successful Sports Roundabout this afternoon after a break since 2019, due to the pandemic. Skipping School

We had a fabulous time with Jodi and Katie from Skipping School this week. Promoting fitness through fun is always high on our agenda and skipping is the perfect way to do this. We are committed to promote the NHS recommendations that children and young people aged 5 to 18 should:
  • aim for an average of at least 60 minutes of moderate or vigorous intensity physical activity a day across the week
  • take part in a variety of types and intensities of physical activity across the week to develop movement skills, muscles and bones
If you would like a skipping rope, we have some for sale in the office.

Living and learning : RSE

Our Living and learning lessons for the next few weeks are all about families and relationships. We have talked about how each of our families are different and are made up of different people and sometimes across different households too. Lots of children shared how many people were in their family and could talk about their special people.

Reading, writing, maths design technology and art!

We try to make as many links as possible in our learning. The last couple of weeks have been particularly linked! We read a book about how to draw a cat and dog, which led us to writing instructions ourselves. The instructions have linked to our maths learning about position, shape and direction. We followed instructions to draw the cat in our art lessons and have also been following lots of instructions when we have been learning to sew!

Triathlon – winning team announced!

The red team were the winners for our inaugural Scholes Triathlon event, organised by FOSP. All the children reported enjoying the event and it raised over £250 for FOSP. All funds go back into school and providing extra enhancements for the children, so thank you to everyone who contributed!
